A living archive of Gurbani, Gurmat Sangeet, Kirtan, and Sikh thought
Amrit Kirtan Trust, Chandigarh
Amrit Kirtan is devoted to the propagation of Sikh religion, Sikh tenets, Gurbani, Kirtan, and Gurshabad. The Trust brings together monthly publications, Gurmat Sangeet research, devotional recordings, and a growing archive for sangat across generations.
Amrit Kirtan magazine has been published from Chandigarh since June 1989 under the editorship of Dr. Jagir Singh. The publication was created as a seva-oriented platform for Sikh thought, Gurbani study, Gurmat Sangeet, articles, tributes, and community memory.
Over time, the work expanded beyond the printed magazine into digital preservation: e-magazine downloads, kirtan recordings, articles on raag-based Gurbani, and reference material for readers, students, researchers, and lovers of shabad kirtan.
Dr. Jagir Singh, retired Deputy Director of Punjab School Education Board and former Chairperson of the Department of Gurmat Sangeet at Punjabi University, Patiala, has guided Amrit Kirtan with a focus on clarity, discipline, and devotion.
The Trust also honours the contribution of Dr. Gurnam Singh, whose work in Gurmat Sangeet has brought international recognition to the tradition and helped connect Sikh musical heritage with academic and community audiences.
